A new beginning

Whoa! It's been a thousand and one years since I blogged here. To mark my return I want my poem for today to be titled A new beginning

A new beginning

Gradually he sees the world for the first time
And cries to let all know he's here
It's a new beginning
It's time to live

Carefully he crosses his t's and dots his i's
To complete his final college exam
It's a new beginning
It's time to work

Happily he says his vows as he looks
At the beautiful eyes of his bride
It's a new beginning
It's time to love

It's a new beginning
It's time for a fresh start

You know what I like best about poetry? The flow. I didn't have anything in mind but what I wanted as the title but as I wrote, the words of the poem just came. Poetry is just beautiful!

Christian Joy

Happiness is a choice, joy comes from above, joy comes from God. I know it,  I've learnt it, I've experienced it. I'm happy today. I chose it.

Happiness
Out the door
Is something great
Out the window
Is something I desire
I can stare out
Or I can pull it open
Today I chose
That which I chose
I opened that door
And the window too
I smiled wide
I found happiness
Just for today?

Bouncing! I hope I'm still happy.

Birthdays

I've always loved to wish people the best of their days in words. Then, I graduated to poems. Okay, so today was a friend's birthday and I composed this for him. Funny, he's said nothing about it. He didn't like it?.....Shhh, don't tell him I said that.;-)

I pray for grace
Upon your face
I pray for blessings
And no more hurtings
I pray you receive much love
And always have a cause to laugh
I pray life from this day
Is just God's way
-the very best!
Happy birthday!

Commitment

I saw this quote. I love it! It says "If you are interested in something you do it when it's convenient but when you are committed to something, you'll do whatever it takes." I really like it so much and it speaks volumes to me at this point in time in my life.

So when shall someone say, I saw this poem, the author is called Dzifa. I really love it! Well, guess it's time for a go at another poem.

Commitment
The protected heart
The single arm
The strand of hair
The single teeth
In the world of commitment
You find no place
In the world of commitment
You are a stranger

Well...I think this poem would be better with more stanzas. Oh well. I still tried. Like I mentioned before, I'm just trying my best to use what God has given me and I know with his immense love, He'd appreciate every little effort of mine.

Getting a try at commitment

Poetry reincarnated

I am a poet. I know I am. No two ways about that. I am a poet but I don't write poems. I used to write poems and perform them too. That was in high school. College is killing the poet in me, but not any more. It's time for a rebirth! When God gives us a gift, we are to use it, else He takes it away. So I guess I should start with a poem. It might not be good, cos it's been a while....

Okay, deep breath...

In the night

The sun is down
The moon is up
The day is quiet
The room sleeps
All but one
All but one

Some poetry that is. I don't really like it though. Oh well, it's late, The night is old. I'm closing the gate, some rest would be good.
